Guitar lessons with the Jazz Cowboy
I teach practical rock’n’roll guitar based on my 50 years’ experience playing in various bands in the UK and Switzerland, including killadillas, Boss Blues, Caesar's Blues Connection and Take the 55. I studied jazz and music theory under Willie James Shay in the USA and try to pass on to my students as much of each as they can take.
Meanwhile, the lessons are as varied in their structure as the students and their musical tastes. I started playing blues guitar and harmonica in 1964, just as Led Zeppelin were inventing rock music and the Kinks and the Who were launching what was to become Punk Rock. From common roots the music grew out in many directions. I have expanded my playing backwards to the rock’n’roll I grew up with, outwards to the sounds of New Orleans and the Caribbean that I heard in my neighborhood, sideways to the surf music on the radio and forwards to the Country and Swing that were so popular when I lived in America. I welcome both beginners and intermediate guitarists at my studio in the Dreispitz Areal. See the contact page for directions. A 60 minute lesson costs CHF 80. For school students I offer termly block bookings at CHF 60 per 45 minute lesson. |
